MEET RYAN
Home Has Always Been Here
Coastal Virginia isn't just the market I serve—it's home.
I'm a fourth-generation Hampton Roads resident and a graduate of Nansemond River High School in Suffolk. Growing up here gave me an appreciation for the unique personality of each community, from historic neighborhoods and waterfront living to small-town charm and everything in between.
Today, I have the privilege of helping clients discover not only the right home, but the community that best fits their lifestyle.
Because finding the right address is only part of the journey.
Feeling at home is what matters most.
Service Has Shaped My Perspective
Before building my real estate career, I spent sixteen months in Iraq supporting Army INSCOM as a DOD civilian.
That experience taught me the importance of preparation, adaptability, communication, and remaining calm under pressure. More importantly, it gave me a firsthand appreciation for the sacrifices military members and their families make every day.
Because of that experience, I understand that relocation isn't simply about moving from one duty station to another. It's about helping families navigate change, find stability, and feel at home in a new community.
That perspective continues to influence the way I serve every client today.
The Moment I Knew This Was My Calling
One of the clients I'll never forget was Mrs. Copeland.
Early in my career, I spent a lot of time knocking on doors and following up with homeowners whose listings had expired. I was young, motivated, and still learning the business, but I believed that showing up consistently and treating people with respect mattered.
Mrs. Copeland and her husband had hoped to sell their home and move closer to family. Before they were able to make that move, her husband passed away.
Months later, she called me.
She told me she had prayed about who she should trust to help her through one of the most difficult seasons of her life. She said my persistence, honesty, and the fact that I had continued to stay in touch—not to pressure her, but simply to be available when she was ready—gave her confidence that I was the right person to help her.
Helping Mrs. Copeland wasn't the biggest sale of my career.
But it became one of the most important moments of my career.
It reminded me that people rarely remember the paperwork.
They remember how you made them feel during one of life's biggest transitions.
That experience shaped the way I practice real estate today.
Every client deserves someone who will listen, communicate honestly, and treat their move with the same level of care they would give their own family.
Marketing Is More Than Exposure
My background in marketing influences every listing I represent.
I believe every home deserves a customized strategy that tells its story and reaches the right audience.
From professional photography and cinematic video to Zillow Showcase®, targeted digital advertising, YouTube campaigns, and social media marketing, I approach every listing with creativity and intention.
I often say I treat every listing like a brand launch.
Because every home deserves that level of care.
Beyond Real Estate
One of my favorite parts of this job is introducing people to the communities I love.
Through my "Ryan Recommends" series, I enjoy highlighting locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, small businesses, and hidden gems throughout Coastal Virginia.
Giving back has also become an important part of my life.
I've completed three World Marathon Majors while raising money for the American Cancer Society, combining a personal challenge with a cause that continues to inspire me.
Whether I'm supporting local businesses, participating in community events, or helping clients discover everything Coastal Virginia has to offer, I believe being a REALTOR® means being invested in the community you serve.
Why Clients Choose Ryan C. Benton
Real estate isn't about having all the answers.
It's about asking the right questions.
Listening carefully.
Communicating honestly.
And helping people make confident decisions.
For more than fifteen years, I've built my business one relationship at a time.
That means showing up, doing what I say I'm going to do, and treating every client with the same level of care and respect I'd want for my own family.
Because long after closing day, I want you to feel confident that you made the right decision—not just about your home, but about the person you trusted to help you get there.
Let's Start the Conversation
Every client has a story.
I'd be honored to hear yours.
